  • Ideas in DG require more time for refining, testing and hypothesizing.
  • DG is an intimate and effortful beginning.

How to start a digital garden

In your case, you tried planting seeds on a specified domain and they haven't grown. The reason I think is uncomfortable environment. Next stage in Notion. The Garden looks much prettier there and more structured.

About structure, though I am not a fan of anything structured, in this case I find it useful at least in the beginning.

• Ideas
  • Things that I am thinking and reading that have already turned into something substantial.
• Projects
  • My research into different topics. Ideas should grow into a project with time. It doesn't happen often but sometimes I get lucky.
• Blog posts
  • My incomprehensive rumbling. Loot at it as a place where I toy with different concepts from which ideas are born.

So it became circular. Everything is interdependent, that's why it is the most difficult KSC of all.

As I've been toying with an idea of digital garden a thought occurred, at some point in time I'll have to create deeper categories. It's not ok to file all ideas in one column it could get clumsy and so loooong.

On telegram, we had a discussion about DG format in what could they grow and how several DG could be intertwined into a semblance of the system and this idea had occurred to me.

• DG should be separated from main notes.
  • Only refined and formulated ideas must be allowed to be planted and cultivated in the future.
• I am not a fan of categories, but at this point, I have to explain my views on the topic. I have categories, but not inside the Zettelkasten. Categories play the main role in dividing mine thoughts from authors, raw ideas from defined. I do it like this.
